Since it's founding in 1981, PIE's mission has been to :
- Open doors to new opportunities for young people, allowing them to experience a new country, family and way of schooling
- Allow families to broaden their horizons by hosting young foreign students
Two fundamental principles underly all PIE operation :
- Complete disregard for socio-economic status, political standing, race and religion
- Use of voluntary host families, so as to guarantee that the sole motivation for the family is a genuine desire to host a foreign student

PIE consists of :
-16 coordinators
-100 local representatives
PIE remains committed solely to stays of long duration.
PIE published and distributes the newspaper "Trois Quatorze" three times per year.
Impressions, accounts, analyses and photos allow each participant to recount and share their experience.
