Academic year (or semester)
Aimed at the 15-18 years old, this type of program allows young people to live in a volonteer family, for one full academic year (or a semester) while following the educational system of the host country. They attend a public secondary school.
Candidates are selected after an individual interview; motivation is a determining component. This type of program is available in most countries. However, the most popular destination is USA. Each young student is considered as a full member of the family and follow the regular educational system of the host country.
A solid preparation and the support provided during the stay are essential : make sure you choose an organisation that provides support through their network of local representative.
